I would like to know what you think the handiest hand tool for your race car is. I think mine is a ball joint press. It makes u-joints & ball joints a breeze to change.

And if the BFH/Sledgehammer doesn't work, there's always the "fire hatchet". LOL!
It works for everything from pursuading stripped bolts to "fall out" to helping the wood stove to start....yep, my vote is for the "fire hatchet".

p.s. - but if we're being serious, I'm currently partial to the new mill we've been playing with in the shop. Nothing like turning on the power feed and going for a cup of coffee, only to return to find a big pile of metal shavings where your part used to be! LOL!!

Good one, DMA! Of all the great racers I know in AL, I never heard 'em call it that once (yet). LOL!
Of course, I never had REAL cornbread either, till I visited my buddies in Huntsville! WOW! (burp!)

My answer would be a generator. What cant you run with a generator. It is much easier to work in the dark with lights plugged in at the track. Your compressor (which plugs into your generator) will run most of your tools. The others you can just plug in such as your sawsall or electric impact. A fridge in the back of the truck aint that bad either after a really good or really bad night of eatin dirt!!!

Duct tape! That's what we used before them.....and after them too! LOL!....ok, we use them both! LOL!
Let's also throw in a vote for that BLUE Permatex gasket stuff. I could be wrong, but at more than one backwoods track, I think I've seen them using it for chewing gum! ROTFL!

The Perfect Tool box would be lacking if it did not have the metric crescent wrench!! heehhehe
Oh yea the reversible channel locks come in handy
And the small pry bars they sell as screwdrivers or something.
We don’t use the “Hot Wrench” to cook with. Na the over heated engine will warm up a can of Bennie- weenies petty quick!! LMAO

****!!!!!!!! I thought I was the only one with the left handed metric cresent wrench. I just can't seem to figure it out how to use it...... I mean why would someone design tool to fit only one round headed bolt and have an adjustable handgrip???? enjoy!!!!.. Have you ever noticed that on a snap on prybar it says.......Do not pry..????? I also have a set of pliers made to pull off plug wires while the engine is ruuning....they have thick plastic handles....on the back they say.....Not Insulated.....ZAP

you guys are cracking me up! i'm kinda fond of the bfh and port-a-power. a friend has a snap on cordless impact and it's the tits too! i'm surpised that NASCAR hasn't used them.....no more running over the hose penalty....or like dale jarrett last week, hose got hung up on an electrical box on pit wall and caused the wheel changer to drop the impact, broke it and cost dale a shot at winning the race.

Bungee cords worked good holding down the deck lid and the left front fender! WHOA was that a fun night!!!!
Another invaluable tool we added just within the past few week was a bar I found about 2"X6' solid steel. Lordy is it heavy but it helps convince those bumpers to get back in place!

I would also have to say our cordless impact. If you don't have one, you need one. Sure beats havin to use the 4-way. Some other things: you always need is some duct tape, a sledge hammer, and a crow bar(the bigger the better)

I would also have to say the Air Riveter the wife bought me one for x-mas last year and it was the best present I ever had. One product I couldn't live without are air tools. God Bless the person who thought up air tools!

the best tool is having people to help you on race nights.it allows you to focus on your job,and lets them do theirs, albeit for the love of racing, and some cold ones at the end of the night!
a hammer,a jack, zip ties, and of course being prepared is the best tool of them all.

All these responses and nobody has mentioned the pressurized water fire extinguisher - or do we just push em a little harder here in the southwest? But on a more serious note - from personal experience I'm really fond of the EMS personell - DON'T RACE WITHOUT EM!
