Our track changed tire rules for next year. How wide of a 70 series tire can I fit on an 8" rim without running into trouble?

"285" maybe they slipped another new tire in the mix but I've never seen one .
commonly available 2557015 fits fine on 8inches and so will a harder to find and more expensive 2657015 (came on older monteros)

I dunno bout you guys, but just for fun we stuck a sprint car right rear onto an 8'' rim. Looked weird but it held air just fine!

yep bob your right on , just went out and looked the tire is a 60 series . which doesn't really matter to much as too width . As I am sure you know , 285 is the tread width shoulder to shoulder in millimeters , and a seventy or a sixty is just the aspect ratio of the sidewall in relation to the tread width , ie. ,% . I would go just a tick more ,295 maybe , in a bias ply tire (racing tire). On a street radial I don't go over a 275 - 60 , the tread seems to bubble in the center. In a 70 , the only one we have are 255 's , and being from ga. I am sure you know we only have those for laborday at swainsboro !
