I'm running a 90 caprice (same car) And im wondering the same. Ive been told (if your gonna use the 7.5) that S-10s have the same gears. I dont know what your target gears are, but I know we are looking for 3.08s and a set of 2.7*s

If its got wheels or tits, it's eventually gonna give you trouble.

73-77 A body rears bolt in Malibu, monte, grand prix etc. (8.5 ring gear) Buick Olds Pontic (BOP) rears have press on axle bearings like a ford rear. Be sure to make heavy duty bearing retainers, though. Some taxi caprices have the BOP style axle also.

You want the rear end not to be wider than the front. The front end on these cars are 61.5 inches (without offset wheels). So I would go with a 60 inch rear end, and then work with offset wheels.
