anyone know what guage steel a stock body is? Where can you buy colored sheets of steel?

20 ga is more like it...to my knowledge the only way to get painted steel panels is to paint them.

Just my 2 cents worth, but I thought that stock steel bodies were 22ga and thats what I use on my car. Eddie

oem panels are in the range of 22 guage i use paint grip treated steel its made for signs etc it has a coating that paint adheres well to

Thanks for the info guys, i thought it was in the range of 20 but wasnt sure.

Doesn't the factory treat them somehow or maybe they are a different grade but we have 22 ga at work and even with bends in them its really flimsy. I've always used 20 ga but I got some 4x8's cheap from work a few years ago and I'm just now running out. I bought 8 sheets at a whopping 3 bucks a sheet.

steve the last ones i got were from Ferguson supply in las cruces , they are across the street from **** Harrels PMS also can get it , its called paint grip and 22 guage works well if you cant get 22 20 will work but a lil harder to make the body break lines , also cold rolled 20/22 guage will work but paint stays on the paint grip better

steve i cant remember for sure but last year when we did mikes doors and fenders and quarters i think it was around 25 or 30 bucks a sheet we used 3 sheets , if you are careful when you lay out the parts you can get buy with very litle waste . these were 4x10 sheets
