If all you want is a wider front you can use 68-72 chevelle spindles.

I am thinking of widening our camaro front end some too, I have been told to go with Impala spindles but my question is will the camaro brake rotors fit the Impala spindles. the Impala rotors have a 5x5 bolt patter and we use the smaller 4 3/4x5.Are the bearings and races the same?

I'd like the info. also along with any other inside tricks as far as the suspension is concerned on a metric car with stock appearing components are concerned LOL. I'm a one man crew and need all the help I can muster. I really like the bolt on and go method.

The camaros use ford ltd lower control arms I belive the year is around 1981. I have not done this one yet but have been told it was not worth it . We done the nova lowers so we could gain wider track in the front end ,which would make the car more stable , but the biggest gain was more rear percentage for traction. It basiclly moves the frame and every thing that is sprung weight 2. 1/4 inches back. which makes more rear weight .But you better make sure it's legal at your track or your track people are not looking cause if he is sharp or lucky you will get caught.I have been told that the camaro deal only make it widder and the ball joint goes the wrong direction for rear weight gain, i don't know this for sure.

You can't swap rotors onto different spindles, the rotors will bolt on but the caliper will come out in the wrong place. Most 4 3/4 rotors and spindles take a 11 inch brake rotor...5 on 5 is 12 inch.

Your right , also I would pay more attention to the guys with more post's. Most of us have tried these "fixes". they're not new, they have been around for a long time. some swear by them others swear at them. Listen to both sides and decide. do what 17j says and ck the archives.

I didn't post it all up because some of the people that race with me still use it and our tech people watch this site and read it so it's in my fellow racers interest not to do it and it will take up a ton or room to put it on a post.So if you want help i will try and just because we used it and thought it was good don't make it the great set up. We win with stock stuff and racing springs and shocks. So read it and do what you want.

camaro clips use 90 and up or so crown vic lowers.

they move the lower back 5/8 or so if you dont re weld in a lower ball joint sleeve to put it back and also to get more length.

without the sleeve you only gain 7-8 a side.

you have to move your weight jack out about 2 inches, the ford lowers have the spring pocket for the end of the spring on the opposite side from a chevy lower.

you would be better off welding a sleeve relocating the lower bj in a camaro a arm than messing with the fords unless your building a new car around them.

Why don,t you use a camero spindle and just move the upper ball joint in one inch. or some how shorten the upper by a inch I cut mine in half re welded it reinforcd with rebar on the sides being the only metric at my track they could not tell the differance

We did the Camaro (70-81) spindle trick too. The left side upper we just had to re-position the ball joint a little and add a bunch of shims. The right side we had to cut and shorten the upper a-arm so we could still get enough camber. You also get the added benefit of bigger brakes up front with this set-up. This combination doesn't require putting the wrong lower a-frames on the car and doesn't change the wheelbase either. You don't even have to change the ball joints.
