ive seen 2 diffierent trannys but never found what they came in.

one is a shortened version of a 3 spd sag but about 6-8 in shorter and about 15-20 lbs lighter.

the other is older was told they came out of 50's pickups.
the case is only about 8 in long and has a realy long tail shaft.

If anyone knows where to get either one of these trannys or what they came out of i would greatly appreciate it.

i believe the trany you want is out of late 60's and early 70's chevy trucks that were colum shift trucks. there were 4 diffrent ratios and i believe the 2nd gear ratios were 150-168-174and 188 however they are not easy to find
good luck

Yes I have and I have raced the short ones. I took one out of a 64 1/2 Ton pickup and raced it. As long as you just use high gear it worked real good. I probably have a couple of them. The long tranny you were talking about could of came out of a 58 chevy pickup or so. It is small bodied and is the long one but it may not have rear mounting holes in it if it makes any difference. We raced the small short trannies for 3 years. They are lightweight and I believe only had to replace 2 of them because they wouldn't stay in gear after they had a lot us use. We now use the full size 2 speed sag and have never had any problems with it for 2 years racing 2 nights a week---knock on wood.

What is the "full size 2 speed sag", and what is it out of?

If it has wheels or a skirt, you can't afford it! But they shure are fun...

i beleive he is thinking of a diff trans. the small sags had a straight cut gear on them, and they will not last. its about as safe as running a lightened sag in 2nd gear.

but i encourage anyone to try something diff..good luck..

Our full size 2 spd has had 1st gear taken out of it. Less rotating weight.
