If you already have a hydraulic shop press the easiest and cheapest way to go is buy the bending dies from speedway or mid america tool and use your hyd. press by making a roller for the shoe out of a couple bearings. That said I built my own bender entirely including the dies but it was a VERY labor intensive job and required a large lathe and special tooling. And it works GREAT! I made my own blueprints from a pro tools ratchet bender.

Speedway motors sells a bender for $439 with one set of dies works very well.

Got mine on sale at Harbor Freight, and it seems to work just fine. Eddie

I built one of my own and it works great. It is a copy of a store bought unit where you have to keep movig the jaw for each bend. I even have the prints that I made in dwg. format if you have access to autocad. Let me know and I will see if I can put it on here as an attachment.

I built a variation of the blind chicken bender. It works real well. Just buy the die set from Pro Tools and lay out on the floor just like the guy from BCR said. I made mine from square tubing. I did not want to cut the slot in the 1/4 plate. Plus I had the tubing on hand. Pro charges 400 for the bender frame MINUS the dies. You can build your own for much less. Pipe benders are the tool every one buys before they buy an actual tubing bender. I actually used the jack from my pipe bender/tubing kinker on my homemade bender.

We bought one of those 4 die deals and bought the air over hydralic pump and the hose from harbor freight. We ended up with about $900 in it.BEST MONEY WE EVER SPENT.ford5 on here can tell you about them send him a p.m. they are high quality units that come with video and the bend it program.Which by the way saves tubing by the foot, would not build a cage without one.I repeat would not build a cage without one!!!!I even got an old computer to put in the garage to set it up on so we could do a cage right there and save it.

Hey sideways, do you have the part numbers from harbor freight??? I checked the web site and all they show is a "PIPE" bender. I know that won't work for tubing cause of the different O.D. size of tubing and pipe.
Thanks, Dave
