i was bored last night so i was cruising around on chasinracin, and i noticed a bunch of tracks in oregon use slicks on their dirt cars, why would they do that? to level the field??? also can you even get any bite with a slick on your car?

Bomb, I race at plesant valley speedway just out of baker city, or. We have that same rule. When I started racing out there I asked the same question..There reply was to keep the costs down and level the playing field. Do we get bite..yes, I dont think lap times would improve with cross tread tires. We have had cars come from out of area with cross tread or dirt tires and I saw no difference or advantage for either. I myself get takoffs from a asphalt oval track not to far away.

ive often thought about running a slick on the RR when the track gets dryslick or rubbered up maybe you would get more traction cause you have more rubber actually touching the track.......cause when the track is dry and hard or rubbered up its like a paved track anyway...... but i aint tried it yet!!

Yeah I've seen some of those cars in oregon (river city and sunset speedway) who run slicks on the street stocks, and they do pretty good. Asphalt take-offs are cheaper than new street tires, plus they just look cool. Check out http://rivercityspeedway.net/

Most of the paved track drivers give the used slicks away to the dirt drivers. Many of them have only a few practice laps. I get mine from Elite Northwest Tour drivers. We run really low pressures 14 & 12 RT, 8 to 10 on the left.

If you go to www.pleasantvalleyspeedway.org,all of the cars that are "0" or"00" in hornet, street, and super, are mine although I don't drive them. I try to get young racers and put them in good rides and let them learn. We win some and they learn how to set-up and race.
