I'm looking to build a second car, I have a metric or a 70 monte frame to start with, i have expierence with the metric chassis, but the engine set back on the monte (aka chevelle) frame is very apealing, we can run aftermarket bodies, so if i cut and jigged the 70 monte frame down to 108" wheel base would it be better or worse and why?

If it was me and you really want to get funky run the chevell stub and a metric back half

thought about that too, not really going for funky, just want a really good handling car, looking for pros and cons to each to help make my decision. Is a metric rear better? Is a early style front better? etc...

No the rule is a little gray (to me) the way i read it is frames may be shortened to accomidate bodies, the metric rear old style front may be streching it a little.

I would think that if you can run a aftermarket body the chevelle stub would be very good. I think those stubs are wider and have better geometry than a metric frame.
