Hello there, I am asking a little help on timing carb or distributor help. Recently I re timed the cam and adjusted the distrubor to the proper timeing. I noticed that the vacuum was disconnected from the distributor so I reconnected the vacuum also. At the race track the car started fine and got out on the track but when the green dropped and I applied gas....the car died. The car would turn over but did not seem to want to "catch" and re-fire. Once the car sat for a while...I restarted the car and it fired right up. When I applied gas again died. Im not sure what the problem is and am looking for help to fix this problem. What I ma thinking is that I should remove the vacuum since I think the distributor is broken. Any help is greatly appreciated and you can email me directly to ***** or

I have a holley 4412 w/ a trick kit in it. It was running fine until we made the timing changes. So getting rid of the vaccum should fix it, correct?

You might want ti try the engine tech page. I'm sure you could get some great info there as well! Wish I could help, but I really don't know diddly about motor problems.

What did you set your timing to?
Sounds like a carb problem to me (Flooding). I had same problem when I put anything larger than 74 jets into my carb.

I would check your pickup coil wires, when the advance plate moves the wires could be broken.

[sounds like the advance is pulling and 1 of the pole piece wires is broken, usually the white one. get rid of advance and put a curve kit with stiff springs in it

do away with the vacum, and do away with the springs, and weights lock the distributer and pull hard..
