What is the significance of a durometer point? We had readings of 60 on all 4, now after a bunch a races the rights are 66 and the lefts only 62. There is an equal number of heat cycles, but of course the right sides get a lot hotter.
We race a 3/8 mile paved, medium bank track.
We are having trouble getting traction from the center off. THe tire temps are usually close to equal (RF=RR and LF=LR), though the RR is getting hotter than before due to wheel spin. we made some chassis adjustmente (ride height, cross weight, softened RR spring) which didnt help. THe car is fast, but with a little more traction could be faster.
Tires are hoosier commanche.
I guess my question is: Is a 6 point durmoeter changes a lot?

Speedway sells a handy little tool called a groovng iron. Carefully groove some treads into your tires, take the windshield out, and kiss the paved track goodbye! Racing on asphalt is like when you was in high school and got the stinky finger. Dirt racing is like when you was in high school and went "all the way!"
Yes 6 points on the durometer is substantial--buy new tires. New every week helps alot.
