How much angle should the pinion have and whats it doin to the car versus no pinion angle? Ive been told there should be around 8 degrees of angle on like a metric imca type stock car. Any imput?

The hightr the number the more forward bite you will get but it stresses the u-joiunt bad over 7 deg. I run 11.5 but have top of the line u-joint and also grese it every race/night!

you can bind things up and eventually drop a drive shaft with to much angle.

been there done that.

For metric's, less is needed, 4 to 6 is about right.

leaf spring cars can have more, however more than 8 isnt recommended. 5 to 7 is the "safe" range. jmo.

Oh Boy, here we go again,...

Do a search in the archives under "pinion angle" and read on. There are many different opinions concerning this very subject. I personally firmly believe that it isn't the angle that matters as much as what it does for the car. I did a bunch of test and tune on my car last year and found that with some tinkering the car went from good to BAD FAST in the corners by adding just 2 degrees pinion angle.

For the record, I have about 7 degrees in my metric GM (9 inch Ford rear).

Be careful with this.

Race on.

if it ain't fun, then don't run

I cant disagree with you about changing pinion angle and effecting over all performance.

However too much angle can cause issues. I dont think your 7 degree's is too much.

However due to a bent bracket at one time I had 12 in my car and spit out drive shafts left and right until i corrected the problem. Just my two cents, you can play with it to see what it does, however to extreme of an angle can cause drive line issues.
