I run a "Fail Safe" brand T-stat. Its the only part worth anything that they sell at Autozone. If it fails, it fails open as opposed to closed.

I understand why all you stat haters feel the way you do, but I like the way a stat helps the motor get up to temperature faster and maintains a more consistent temp while running.

Thake the T'stat out of your demo derby car, but leave it in your race car.

Just my $.02

All you have to do is get on the phone with GM High Performance, and ask what combination they recommend.

I do not trust any! I put a new racing one in
my pure stock 2yrs ago, I kept blowing soft
plugs out. Use restricters insted of
thermostats. Beter safe than not racing!!!!

have never had one fail in 20 + years of racing.if g.m. thought for one second they didn't need it,they would have left it out.there crate program is designed to give you 50 + nights out of that motor,i'm sure that is the best thermostat you can put in it.they spent 100's of thousands of $'s designing that little piece.it's oem.it's good as gold.as for replacement thermostats,i wouldn't trust one of those china made p.o.s's in my lawnmower.a.c delco 180 or one of those high dollar robert shaw unit's.i've got one in my car,$15 's for a thermostat is high but the thing just plain works.i'm not saying res.'s don't work, they do.i just like the consistancy of the thermostat,it runs 195 if it's 90,or if it's 50 out.

we ran one of our older cars, big body monte cause I knew it would be rough, 2000 to win in pure stocks people go crazy! We qailifed terrible due to engine problems. Started 27th and finished 5th so it was a pretty good nite considering we just put that car back together the week of the race and did not get to work the kinks out of it. I have decided to run my metric car in super street and have done some changes to it, and to my knowledge will be the only one trying the crate engine in swainsboro. Just maybe I can keep up with yall!

i'm real interested on how you fare in the superstreets with the crate,we have kicked around the idea of buying one.just was not sure if swainsboro gave enough of a weight break.most tracks give 300#'s,and i think they only give 100#'s.keep us posted.
