If I use a 4.11 rear with a 3 ringer transmission, 1.89, and i have 285/60 d 15 tires, will it make my gears too low or high for a 1/2 mile track? I have the 4.11 rear, with a 1.68 tranny, and turning 5500 - 5700 right now, and can't shoot out of the corners with the rest. The car itself doesn't even REALLY start running untill I'm halfway down the stretch. thanks!!

hmmmm. it's my husbands car, so right now i don't have that...i think 10 inch width... our cam is solid lift, 4.0 bore, flat top pistons. we're running 2.02 heads, freshly redone, and that's it. (350) This is our first full season, and we're doing good, out of 13 - 16 cars, we're running 5th and 6th. the ones above us are running 383 strokers, and then one of them...we don't know what he is running, but he laps ALL of us!

285-60-15 should yield 87.5 to 88.5 loaded diameter at 13 to 15 lbs of air. I think your probably running more rpm than that on a 1/2 miler with 690 final and a small diameter tire. Are you running in 2nd or third? We ran a 705 final on 3/8ths with 92.0 tires and pulled 64-65 hundred rpms.

2nd. he gets to 2nd. the car doesn't start really picking up it's power until he's halfway through the stretch, and he never winds it out or anytihng.

if your duration is in the 5's that your problem should be in the 2's
