I am building a IMCA hobby stock. Looking at going with speedway motors cage kit. But a guy in town has one for sale that is out of SUMMIT and ONLY 1 5/8" instead of 1 3/4" but the thickness is well over specs at .134. The cage is new in box yet for $75. Being new to this was wondering if there's any way to beable to run this cage and be legal. Or are things that strict? I think the cage being that thick would clearly be safer than 1 3/4" at 0.095.

Where is JR Motorsports out of? I did a search for them and came up with two different ones. One in Illinois and another in Georgia.

racer17j I looked at both cage options. The basic cage from JR is only $90 cheaper than the full cage kit from Speedway. I was wondering about buying from speedway and just saving the extra tubing for something else and still buying the 1 1/4" for front. My question is this,,,,,,What cage goes together easier? Also I live about an hour east of Sioux City are there any JR Motorsports close to me? Maybe pick cage up.

Luke.

i just bought a scs cage (jr motorsports has them build for them by scs)
it was 300 dollars for the 4 post standard cage the go together very easy and hold up very well (i race figure 8's)

jr motorsports has 3 locations Ankeny, IA , Boone, IA and Cedar Rapids

hope that helps

Put a Speedway kit in the 77 Nova I sold, kit cost me $274.00 last year to have it sent to my shop, looked at a few and felt the Speedway was the way to go, I added bars that didnt come with the cage and modified it to my liking, also Ralph Anderson at Speedway helped me out with any problems I had. Personally I like the 4 door bars on both sides. Eddie

your not to far from me then you should buy my car from me good bolt ons and lots of spares. i'm just not a big fan of the 1 3/4 cars, the way they mount the halow the extra door bar the x in the main hoop no seat mount if i was going to build an entire chassis kit i'd get the jr chassis kit it has all the x bracing for the front and rear
