Anyone know anything about the gm crate engine 602. Do they come ready to run, or do you have to adjust timming and valves? A freind of mine is thinking about buying one. Also if anyone has one are they any good? How is the power?

The track I run allowed crate engines in the prostocks this year I dont know if there a 602crate but I do know they are a basic 350 with vortec heads and a four barrel intake and cost 3000bucks just add a distributor and carb. The carb is a 650 holley four barrel and the combo is very competitive.THe current points leader runs one and he won the first two races and placed just out of the top five in the third one.It seems to work well when the track is dry/slick like the first two weeks but last weekend it rained right up to race time and was very heavy/ could see then with out momentum it struggled a little off the corners compared to the big buck two barrel engines. If your on a tight budget 3000 compared to 7-10000 bucks the crate is the way to go.

they are a great alternative to the high dollor combo's.most tracks don't allow you to pull a valve cover, all you can do is time it ,and jet it.go to the chevrolet web site and look it up ,they give you all the specifics.down here they run them as "crate models",give them a weight brake, and a "barn door" rear spoiler.can't hardly tell them from the "real"late models.i would put one in a of the local boys had 53 nights on his in his cratemodel when it let go.won the 51st show.said all he did was change plugs ,oil, air cleaners.and time it every now and then.that was it for 2 years!
