I found a full size Sag with four of the regular bolting tabs and a fifth one at the top. What did it come out of? Sure doesn't look like it would be any problem bolting up to our housing. It has no lines on the input and is a fine spline on the rear. Had just two shifting arms on the side, I would say it was a 3 speed. GM18------6273245 stamped on the main housing. Anybody know?

Im not sure what it is but I got one just like it and if you are using an aftermarket bellhousing like lakewood the bearing cover is a larger diameter and it wont fit the bellhousing.

it is a 3 speed trans out of a heavy truck. it is heavier, and alot stoughter than the 4 bolt. should be a 1.89 in second.

tips on front cover that is to big for bellhousing is to take cover off put in a vise, and get a grinder..grind down to where the ends taper down. it will work perfect and only takes 10-15 mins..

if you want to sell it let me know..

running same trans with 373 and 245/60 on 3/8 track. running out of gear what would be a good rear gear. mine came out of a 76 half ton. using 2nd gear wanting to turn 5500

id say step down to a 3.42 gear if your car is falling flat before the turns..

Thanks for the info guys. I have already got it sold or this was the one that looked odd to me so get rid of it. Don't want to have somebody else have problems with larger retainer etc. I will just sell him another one. What is heavier inside to make it stronger? I would say 2nd is the same ratio inside as the other no line trannys I have. We run a 3 line 2 speed in ours but use 3rd gear for race so we don't really have any advantage do we?

no speed advantage. ive been inside mine but havent compard the inside to the regular 3 speed. i know its 28 lbs heavier, and havent broke it yet.

if you ever want to sell it id sure buy it..im a firm beleiver in the 5 bolts, and most racers will not want them. which makes them cheaper and easier to find..
