Do the willys 350cfm carbs make that much difference over the others?

That is a good question. We are going to be downsized next season and we are going to have to purchase a 350 cfm. They are probably a little more but could be worth it.

Only a very select few of the 350 carbs out there are anything more than bone stock "shelf" carbs....

What make 2-3 of the front running car be sometime a back stretch length ahead of the other cars, is it in the carbs, I think that there is not that much difference in the motors that are being run in the stock car class.

It's usually not just one thing that makes the difference. It's all the little things that add up to something measurable, plus the driver and chassis being a major factor in it as well. Sure, carburetors do matter, but they won't solve every other problem or shortcoming in the entire system of the car.
It takes doing all your homework throughout the entire operation to make a front running car.
