has anyone ever used an electric cooling fan. i am needing to replace my fan and shroud and was considering just installing one of these but was worried that it would not pull enough air.

It takes a lot of thought and work to make electric fans work in a stock car. You cannot just pull the mechanical fan off and slap an electric one on the back of the radiator and expect it to work.

I'm in the process of doing exactly the opposite as you. I ran all last year with an electric and the only problem I ever had was getting it warm enough. With the same setup, pump, serpentine belt radiator etc. I'm not overheating bad. All the advice I've gotten said to go back to the mechanical fan and shroud.

10-4, 51. With a good electric fan set up, you can have trouble getting the engine up to temp under green conditions.
