First off, I would like to thank Shawn Jakes for inspiring me to spend a little time trying to make the car look good, despite all of my wife's comments about how long it would take for everyone to 'knock the pretty off of it'.

Here is a link to my 2005 IMCA Stock Car. (I couldn't get the picture to post)

This is my first car. I bought it in pieces and put it together from January to March 2005, this has been a lot of fun so far, thank you to everyone who has helped on this forum. Now I need to learn to drive....

Next question:

Shocks: I am pushing on entry. Pushing hard on a heavy track and even some on entry on dry/slick. I plan to adjust the brake bias more to the rear for the heavy track but I wonder if I am having a weight transfer problem. Car scales out to 53.5 Left, 51% rear, 49.9 cross, 3,140 total.
Currently running tire pressures:
LF 12
RF 16.5
LR 10.5
RR 12

Currently have the following PRO shocks

LF 791
RF 746
LR 953
RR 953

My guess is that I need to increase the compression on the RF to slow down the weight transfer to the RF. Is this correct.

Here are the spare shocks that I have laying around:

AFCO 1293-5
PRO 791
PRO 93

Please suggest another arrangement for the shocks. More than one person came up to me after the races on Saturday to tell me that I needed to free the car up.

Thanks,

Brian

Brian, thanks for the kind words about the car etc.!!!

As for your setup issues, I'll try to help although this is my first year in a Stock Car so if someone else posts, I wouldn't swear by my advice....lol.

First thing I noticed with your scaling is from the advice I've been taking, your cross looks a bit low to me.

I am at approx. 51.3% Cross I was told 49 would make it push like a dump truck.

One other item is your rear weight. You don't have any rear bite. Your rear weights are the same. I am running right around 130-150lb split. I'm thinking if you get your cross up some that will help your split in the rear. The geometry messes with me yet....lol. I have to actually play with it on the scales, I can't yet imagine everything in my head, I'm still learning.

Hope someone else with more experiance posts for you to compare if I'm online with helping.

Bye the way nice car!!!! Just try to keep it that nice. Good Luck!

Shawn i think the numbers you are talking about are his shock numbers.

LF 791 shock, I think that is your problem with pushing on entry. I would think that would keep your car from getting on the left front during entry. I would just get a straight 75 and run that. I think that would make your car much more free. We have found better results with running. I would get some bilstein shocks if you can afford them. I would go with a 40/40 everywhere exept for the right front and I would go with a 50/50 there.
