was making some patch panels for the rockers on my car as they are beat up and alittle rusted out, am making them out of aluminum and pop riveting them on but I am just using the small 1/8 pop rivets I get from the hardware store, are they sufficient are do I need to replace those with the big head 3/16 rivets (which I will have to mail order, but I dont want the panels flying off either) thanks-

The small ones work fine, but I would use a few more just to be on the safe side.

i only use the 3/16 small head ones on my car, the entire body and interior is done with them. they seem to hold as good as the large head ones. which since you shear them off most the times, the 3/16 shaft will give it the same shear stregth.

You'll also want to use back-up washers for this project. So they don't pull through. Good luck !!!

I have always bought rivets from the racer store untill today. I ran out over the weekend and checked NAPA today. They have the large, small, in bulk, or just count out what you need. Price was the same and diden't have to pay shipping charges.

they are cheaper there like 12 bucks for 250 if you want painted ones take a 18pack box and stick them in and paint them yourself before you put them on
