we are running a new power master starter on a 351w this is the second one in roughly a month, it sound like the clutches are slipping one min. then won't even turn the motor over the next. we have checked cables [8 guage copper] and ends, all is tight ground is also good. battery is charged 1000cca cat racing. any one else had these problems?

What size and where is your ground on the car? We run a ground from the batt to the engine. The weight in cable is not much and it is really cheap when compared to a lost feature!

#8 copper is too light for a starter......I would go up to #4 at least.

I'm running a 408 with 13.3 to 1 with a stock ford starter for a 300 six.My buddy was having a problem similar to yours ,it ended up being the starter gear was bottoming out on the flywheel.Sloppy holes on the starter. He repositioned it and seems to crank just fine now.A bigger wire isn't going to hurt anything I'm using a 02
