We are thinking of trying a locker. Any of you played with them? Any thoughts or concerns with them?

yep, i loved it. it was a detroit locker. loosened corner entry and helped the car rotate in the center better and i didn't have a lick of trouble out of it.

i had a powertrax locker in my 10 bolt until i broke an axle then i lost a spring and could not get a new one so i switched to a spool i liked the locker better but that was in the past now i have a ford 9" with a spool and don't notice it as much since i have rear disc brakes( i can pitch the car differently)

thanks for the reply. You have borken a good one, say a detroit?

Running a semi-banked 1/2 mile and it does sometimes get rough. Usually smooth for the feature but sometimes the heats can be a bit rough. Thanks for your help. Anyone else?

i ran a detriot locker with 550 hp. no problems all season. the cup guys have proven that a detroit locker can handle 800+ hp.

one other thing....if you decide to run one, you should safety wire all the ring gear bolts. the ratcheting action of the locker has a tendency to work them loose...

ok, I would be right in the HP range. 500hp (give or take) on a 3000 lb camaro. Did you feel the locker made enough of a difference to warrant the extra cost?

Any special maintenance that I should be worried about vs a full spool solid axle.

in my opinion, it is worth it. no special maintenace required. just bolt it in, safety wire the ring gear bolts and forget about it...

ok, now heres the next question.... Who has the best deals on lockers, and what brand would you reccomend? Detroit? Any others? Thanks a lot. New to this site and it is really helping me get my 1st car going.

Been racing karts for nearly 10 years. This is learning all over again.
