After reading some posts here, I purchased the Snap-On R-121 reamer that was supposed to be a 2" / foot taper. I just used it for the Moog K6117 and K6136 ball joints and they are both just a little loose in the spindle, with just a slight amount of wobble. If I put on a nut and tighten it down, it tightens up---no wobble. I went back and took a K6145 ball joint and put it in a stock spindle and there's no wobble without tightening it down. So here's the question, would you guys run the reamed out spindle? Am I taking a risk? Has anyone used the Snap-on R-121 without any problems and which ball joints were used?

I don't have my reference book here, but I believe the taper is 1 1/2 deg on the balljoints and 1 9/10 deg on tie rods. Anyhow 2deg ain't rining a bell with me on a front end part. Sorry

the ball joint must fit tight with no wobble. the reamers come in both 2" of taper per foot, and 1 1/2" of taper per foot. but not from snap-on.

you could possibly have wobbled a bit when reaming it out or as stated earlier used the wrong taper. to preclude ruining a spindle by trying to re ream it you could use some copper shim stock as needed and then tighten it down. We did that two years ago and ran all year with no problems

the ball joints you used (according to the moog numbers you stated) need a taper of 1 1/2" per foot. I talked to the parts guys and 1 major chassis builder at NORTH GEORGIA SPEEDWAY about this earlier tonight. by the way, races were pretty good, but the track was bad slick! gary mcpherson won super late model again, (3 in a row) and a few alabama boys showed up due to GREEN VALLEY getting rained out. they all did pretty good.
