in my car i stated with a 55in from a ford truck but had problems bending them because of the fact that the axel tubes but weld to the center section. i would buy a aftermartket 55in or run the smallest 9in that has the tubes slid in the center and welded i had better luck with a aftermarket 55in. than a stock 60 built the same way as the aftermarket the 60 in was the smallest one with the tubes slid in i could find

We run the 56 inch ones from out of trucks. 69-72 I think. Its 56 from housing flange to housing flange. about 60 from axle flange to axle flange. I believe its the same as the guy above has posted but I've not bent a tube any more with this size than I have with others. It uses the same size axles on both sides so its easier to replace. It also fits under the car nicely without to little or to much of the tire sticking out with 2 or 3 inch offsets on it.
