Quick question: I have a powerglide, direct drive with hoses to ball valve to engage and lines to a cooler in front of the radiator. About how much fluid should it take to fill up?

Thanks in advance.

Mine has has a stock pan and has about 3 1/2 quarts in it. Mine doesn't have a ball valve and lines, though. My powerglide handbook says that the proper level is 3/4" above the pan rail.

You are right on both statements sir. 3 1/2 or 3-4 qts. and 3/4" above panrail are full for a glide. Checked with motor off, with a coupler

Is the 3-4 quarts right for one just rebuilt with no fluid in the passages?

With a stock pan yes. Start with 3 qts run it shut it off and check 5 minutes later.

Thank you everyone. I had already put in 4 quarts with the new lines to the cooler and to the ball valve before I posted. It showed full so I thought I would check the forum. Everything ran fine with none blown out yet. Good thing I didn't put any more in... Off to the next issue/learning opportunity.

Thanks for your help.

Brian
