You'll want to run the spindle savers, double them up, and weld them together... the ball joints have nothing to do with you bending spindles

I ran the spindle savers this year and never had to replace the spindles all year.

I ruined a couple of wheels, but never bent the spindles.

we always had trouble bending upper a-frames.we finally cut a piece of 1/8" plate and welded inside of a-frame on the sides. no more bent a-frames.

we alway ran with the spindle savers and never lost a spindle. You can also change and run a heavier ball joint but you'll have to ream out the tapers. The upper control arms should be renforced. I've spent many years in figure 8 demo derbies, not quite the same speeds but just as much fun. If you need any more info let me know and I'll try to help the best I can.

knock on wood i have never bent a spindle but i did bend 3 up a-arms last season then i got some rebar and went around the outside of the a-arm and have not bent 1 since. always keep a spare on hand though just in case...lol. also if u go to a carprice classic 80-81 not sure of any other year of hand but they had bigger heaver spindles. they r a little taller but they r also stronger i have a set to put on my 81 monte and there the same bolt pattern.
