Hello, this is my first post on this board and have to say this place has ALOT of usefull knowlage!

I have a question. I am helping a good friend of mine this year with his I-Stock car. We are currently running a 6.56 final gear ratio and a was wondering why so low? I am used to drag racing and am just learning the circle track stuff!
From all I've heard, I-Stock cars like torque vs. horespower due to the fact that they have to use a 350cfm 2 brrl. If thats the case, and you figure you are probably making peak torque around 2500-3000 rpm, why run such a low gear to get in the higher rpm's?

Some engines such as a 377 like to really be twisted, 6500+. 383s and 406 not so much, say 5800-6200. Most roundy-round engines are cammed to come alive with the higher rpms. Maybe someone with a little more engine knowledge could tell you "why" of it.

with circle track alot of factors go into gear selection motor weight cam track conditions etc like 17j all to keep momemtem i have several gears and would like to have more gearing is important part of setup
