I have a decision to make and need some help. The heads on my motor that came with the car are 624 heads. Are these at all good to race for a hobby stock. Was thinking of switching to 882's but if these are somewhat the same then there is lots of other things I could spend the money on.

the 624 are a light casting head..there were a few high performance castings floating around they were off of the vette...but your chances are slim...most of them are cracked and the ones' that haven't...more than likely will! (in high temp Race applications)

i think it were in 71-79 on the h.p. vette's

i have ran the 882's and they worked fine.
they are a good open chambered head.
and i plan on running a set of 882's this year also.

I run 882 and have pretty good luck with them. They've opened our rules up some to allow hump heads but due to the tight budget I've had to stick with the 882. I managed to win one last year and with a couple changes this winter I'm pretty sure I'll have plenty to hopefully win a few more against the guys with the big motors this summer. My opinion is to go with the 882 over the 624's definetely!

I ran a set of 624 heads for 3 seasons. I ran them hot a few times, but never had any problems (won ALOT of heats and features). Maybe I just got a good set.
