Does any one run Exhaust off their headers? I was told if you run a X style off your headers it will help with torqe? If so what size and does anyone have any pics? Thanks

Ive ran cherry bombs straight off the headers with no pipe, this year ive got 3in stainless steel straight pipe to use, I was told if you use a 2 into 1 system that that would help with the horse power but i am planning on running it individual. Eddie

Go with the X pipe it will help the low end torque alot. I use 2 1/2" pipe for the X and 2 1/4" for the rest of the system.

we ran 2 into 1 .Two 21/2 into a 4 or 5 inch collector about 36 inchs long.Our engine builder suggested this combo and it was tested on the dyno.It works well and sounds awesome.Due to rules changes this year we are no longer allowed to run 2 into 1 or h pipes but it does not say you can't have an x pipe,max pipe dia is 3 inches.I read an article somewhere that said in x pipe is the best followed by a y pipe than a h pipe

If you look in summit or Jegs they have an X pipe kit for 99.00 dollars but there is also a picture of the design so you can copy if you have a bender let me know if not i will get you a picture of one.

there are a lot of variables...


1. Are you guys running exhaust required to?
2. If your motor builder suggested a system is it because its better than what you had? or supposedly better than open exhaust?
3. Did you ask your machinest if open headers would build more power?
4. Are you on restricted carbs? 500cfm or less?
