I had a drag seat in my car(didnt know any better) now I am putting a new seat in and need to know how you guys bolt the seat down to the seat mount. Do you bolt threw the bottom seat pan into the mount or threw the side of the seat into the mount threw the back, all three ways or what? How many bolts do you use to hold it down. Cant believe I could drive with that thing in there. Last year I moved up a class and was driving with one hand on the wheel and the other on the roll bar to keep from falling out. Thank god I never recked!! I am going to put a new cage, seat, belts and motor in and when I got the seat I seen it didnt have any mounting holes in it so I figured I better check.

Thru the back and thru the seat bottom. Use six grade 8 bolts. I also use a heavy (homade) washer. DO NOT bolt the seat to the car-only to the seat mount! Bolt the seatbelts to the rollcage. There is some info in Speedway Illustrated last month that may help you. IF Your car is torn into little bite-sized pieces, you want to be strapped in the seat and securely in the cage.

I use 4 half inch grade 8 bolts through the seat bottom with a homemade washer thingy also. And 2 3/8s grade 8 bolts in the seat bottom on the front corners. I have one half inch bolt through the back of the seat. All should be attached to a well built seat mount and cage.

I mounted mine through the back and in the bottom. Didn't see posted here where you should make sure to mount the seat to the roll cage also. I use grade 8 bolts too. Safety is the NUMBER 1 THING. Can't race if you are in the hospital or worse yet dead. Be sure to measure yourself for the correct seat size too. I've seen way too many guys buy a used seat that they don't fit properly in. You can't strap in tight unless that seat is snug around you. Also, get yourself some clip on seat belt ends. I take my belts out after every race night is done and store them out of the weather. Same with the seat cover. We tend to wash the car just before hitting the track, and it's nice not sitting in a wet seat. Race on!!

We use a 1/8 inch plate in the seat bottom with grade 8 bolts and washers. Harder to tear through steel than just aluminum. BIGG C

So biggC, you just sandwich the seat between the mount and a top plate and bolt threw the three. Sounds like a good idea. I did read up on how to measure for a seat. When I got it I thought man that is too tight but i guess thats the way it it is meant to be. No more falling out of the seat!! LOL..

Also if you run where you can not move or add weight, add a plate under or in the seat. How much does a 1/2 inch plate steel weight? Just use longer bolts. BIGG C
