I have been running a gm rear end with the trans in second, 2005 is going to allow the ford 9 inch. Is it worth the swap to be able to run trans in third. It seems like a very expensive change if it dont help.

I ran my stock car with the factory GM 10-bolt for quite a while and had absolutely NO problems. The 9" is nice but I guess its all up to you. If you feel like doing it then go for it.

If you just run at basically one track then keep the GM in the rear. If you want to try other track's the 9" is alot easier to change the gears. I like my 9" for checking axles and swapping gears. I really don't know if one free's up any horsepower over the other.

go with the9 tou will gain a little lost hp through the tranny and if you have any tranny trouble it a easy fix with any other tranny. the axles are better and gear gear selection is great

i have to run a gm in my class so i bought the hardened axle still wish i could go with a 9 in i look at it this way the same way i looked at buying the good axle what is cheaper an axle or a car when i break the stock one and roll same thing with upgrading to a nine inch axles are stronger and you don't have to worry about a c clip coming loose and watching your tire and axle pass you and if you ever do break an axle at the track 4 bolts and it's done
