I just got a 79 Camaro, it has the 80's style aftermarket nose on it, but it is beat up and faded, so I am gonna buy a new one. I am not too keen on using the 4 piece nose, because EVERYONE with a camaro has one. Has any of you guys ever used a different nose on a camaro, and how much trouble was it to mount?? Any pics would be nice. Thanks.

I put a LM Iroc nose on an early Camaro. Then built "wings" that covered the front tires, like the SLM's use. It looked sharp to me..I saw one that was done that way at EAMS a few years back.

I use the the standard plastic nose, but I use a one-piece wrap around plastic sheet that gives a little easier and bounces right back to its original shape. See picture ---->

I was looking through my performance bodies book at a few of these noses. Are you guys talking about using the dirt late model style camaro nose with the wings, or are you using the 92 IROC nose with the wings?? I think this is the look I really would like to go for. Thanks for all you guys help. Also, that is a sweet looking ride 69-er.

We used one on our firebird in 2003 looked good, but went with a four piece for my camero in 2004. the iroc nose worked real good with the flat firebird hood.you might have to do some creative engineering to make it work with the stock camero (not flat) hood. show us some pictures when your done because i liked the ease of removal for repairs

I think we are going to cut the hood off straight and put a strip across the top of the nose to keep the wind from getting under it. I like the way those noses look on those cars. Nobody around here has one like that.

i plan doing this same thing to my wifes car. 79 camaro with 92 iroc nose, and i found that the early 80's caprice and impala hoods are close to the same size and are flat. that is what i plan on using.

i run the 4 piece ,just for the use of a "real"bumper.down here the way to go seems to be the latemodel style camaro nose with the wings, and fabing a hood out of aluminum, ala a late model.they look really cool, but seem to be very high maitnance.hey was that picture of the one-legged bandit?

Yep, it certainly is the "one legged bandit".

I actually didn't like the hood running over the top of the nose the way it does until Blane explained to me why he did it. It forces cooler air through the filter. Never really thought of that until he said something about it.
