this is my first experience with a stock 9", allways been able to run floaters before, anyways we bent an axel and the replacement i got is totally different, the one i bent has the race inside of the housing, and a cone shaped bearing, the new one looks like the bearing and the race is all one peice, do i have 2 complete different animals?? or can i take the new one and have it made to fit?

The original axle from your car is a "tapered roller bearing" style. The replacement is a "sealed roller bearing". The axles are usually a different diameter and will not interchange. There are two different sizes of "sealed roller bearings".
Measure the machined area on the axle where the bearing mounts to compare old and new axles. Your original requires the seal to be on the axle, and the replacement you have has the seal in the housing. How about the length and spline count? Hope this helps.

i'm having the same problem. i broke a drivers side sat. night it is 29 1/2in. 28 splined. i got one that had the sealed bearing and it was to small where the bearing goes. i got another that the bearings are the same, but that axle is 30 1/2in. i don't know what my housing came out of. what year and models had these tapered 2 piece bearings??????
