have a question for you guys. i know engines have no kind of warranties what so ever, and im ok with that. however tonight was our 5th night on this engine. and right at the checkerd flag it went big time (at least we finished 2nd) eagle SIR rods and eagle 4130 crank. hit the recal and the driver had only turn 6900. my question is would an engine builder usually work with one of his customers on an issue like this?? i mean we arent expecting a freebe, but maybe a break on labor??. like i said i know no warranties and i understand that. however this is a pretty reputable engine builder, and was our first time using him so dont really know right off hand howd he react. thanx for any input

You never said what broke, what pistons did you use? Did a piston break?, did a rod break?, did a rod bolt loosen?, did the crank break????

I like oliver rods I run them for 4 years then they get put into a street beater or some outher stock application as for pistons I use any thing forged I really try to stay away from any thing that has hypergrneds in the name good luck with your builder

the pistons are je, we are getting ready to pull the motor out here in a bit, im going to call him on monday and see if i should tear it apart or if i should let them do it, but as far at what broke is undetermined, except for about half a rod sticking out of the pan

i run a set of eagle i beams, and run the ... out of them anymore. imca type mod, 355 with a tacky track, and make it keep up with 406-430 cube motors all night, no problems yet and been using eagle i beams for a few years. car just underpowered some nights, but reliable.

I run the x rods and only let 'em go to 6500 max,one bad thing about the dry slick track is you seem to spin the motor alot and it never gets a chance to catch it's breath, friend of mine blew his sat nite...dry slick,x rods,6300 rpm.

my machinist has about 7 or 8 cracked eagle cranks in his s**** pile. most were from running engines...but if you let it go to long..BOOM. i'd stay away from china stuff if your not running a claimer class. try callies for cranks, crower for rods and some wiseco pistons.

engine is totalled!!!! however the builder feels really bad is is going to work with us. there wasnt anything left, he seems like a pretty nice guy, if this new one stays together he just may have found him self a regular customer.
