around here we seem to have an abundance of people who are bitter and just run their mouths and will say anything. it seems to be the usta be front runners who cant accept their status.I accept that if your a front runner folks always say your a cheater, but it gets vicious here. How about all you other racers.

bobaluuu......if your car is legal.....take the griping and complaining as the complement that it is. We run a pure stock.....first year. And by mid season we could run top 5...... 4 out 5 nights at 2 different tracks. Let me tell you no one thought we were illegal the first 8 or 10 runs. But we chose to turn wrenches instead of run at the mouth. Funny which of those makes your car faster. By the end of the year, if anyone said anything we pulled the hood and the deck lid and let them look....there wasn't anything for them to find. And yes our engine was decent....but there were stonger ones out there for sure. On the flip side.....there are no shortage of people cheating and it's no fun knowing when you show up you are running for 4th or 5th at best. Funny how direct drive will do that in a pure stock I the one complaining now?

I moved down from Super Stock ,due to the rules going away & turning in a cubic money thing instead of cubic inches!! Built a Bomber/Street Stock for this year & hear constantly about cheating. I won the 14th race of the year, you would think I should have won them all if you listen to the guys I race with.

Lately our crew has had some gossip about us ever since we started to win races. Basically our driver is a rookie (2nd season) and he has won 6 races so far since mid-season.

Anyway, every time we win we're a straight away or more ahead of the 2nd place guy. People keep saying we're illegal and blah blah blah but no one ever protests us. I can't wait until next season though because the engine builder asked the driver if he could handle more HP. When he freshens the motor he said he's gonna give us an extra 100HP and still be legal.

Last year there were rumors going around that I had $14000 in my engine in my car. (I am not sure how they arrived at that figure) I was running away from them on the straights. To top it all off I won a feature on with two bent pushrods (on two separate cylinders-over reved). So they were sure I was cheating. Little to they know I spent about $2500, which is less than most guys are spending. I guess if you have to pay someone to do your engines they cost lots of $$. What they dont see is who is on the throttle first coming out of the corner!!!!

Repeat after me:
Racers Race
B####es B####h

Cheating isn't cool, but a fact of life. If you have to cheat to beat me than I've already beaten you.
Being a Racer, I'm not gonna say a word, go home, do my homework, i'll be faster next week, will mr. cheater ?

We've got a guy at our local track that everyone and I mean everyone thinks is cheating. He wins 95% of the heats and features that he is in. When I was racing I was racing for second but I dont think he cheats, I think he has one heck of a motor and has been driving for 20+ years. He has his car set up well and knows how to use it.
But thats how ppl are, if someone does better than everyone else they must be cheating. He will help anyone that asks and some that dont ask, he's an all around nice guy that drives the wheels off his car.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. When people do not know how to imitate you winning, they assume you are cheating. Personally, I love hearing people complain about us cheating when we know we are legal. It is even better hearing it from drivers that have been disqualified already this year!

some crazy person heard us talking about carburetors one night, and went and told the official we had an illegal carburetor!

we have a guy that's accused of cheating in our class because he wins alot as well. I've watched him race, and watched how he drives. I'm sure he's running a powerful engine but he knows how to set his car up. He's the only guy running a camaro in our class and he has his car handling beautifully. You don't see him fighting the steering or getting loose. He's nice and smooth in and doesn't spin his wheels pulling off the corner. Some people just don't realise how important handling and setting up you chassis is. If they would just take the time to learn the other side of dirt racing instead of complaining they may learn to run up front just like you guys have said. I'm not a big fan of this guy but I've got to give credit where it's do. He just gives me the inspiration to keep working on my car so I can run with him someday.

We had a street stock we built with a guy who runs an aluminum fabrication business so the car always looked new. The rules allowed aluminum as long as it looked stock and we had to weigh #200 lbs more. Our first night we went through tech 3 times before our heat race, 2 time before the feature and we finished 8nd and they took almost 2 hours to check out the car after they called us to tech for the 6th time that nite.
It was a car we bought from driver who was moving up and had run the car all year we got it 4 races before the end of the season and were using the time to feel the car out and adjust it for us. The only difference was we put a new body on it, heck he even ran an aluminum body before we got it.

I totally agree with crc1124. We have a driver in our class that is smooth as silk all through the turns, the car hooks up coming off. He wins frequently. Someone wasted $300 to have him torn down only to find a junk yard 305.

I was talking to a guy last night who is helping a friend of mine with his car. He has a cousin who builds alot of drag racing engines is going to build this guy a "killer 350" to run in our prostock class. I tryed to explain to him about building torque and how important handling was but all he would say was how he was going to run away from the other guys! LOL
I'm amazed how these rookies think that a killer motor is what wins races. Alot of these drag racers think that this "roundy round" racing is easy.
We had a prominant drag racer in our area change over to dirt track racing and on his first night he wrecked and flipped the car. I think it rolled 3 times. Then he couldn't fiqure out why he was getting so much wheel hop. It took him a couple of years but he finally got things fiqured out and runs pretty decent.

It's so bad here, they even accuse the officials of turning their heads and the promoter and track owner of taking money. The owner of the car everyone cries about, has told everyone, many, many times to "come on over and bring your tape measure and go over any part of the car you please". some people just can't stand it.

I saw a really good one. The dirt track here has a teardown rule. You post $200 for anything they could find with one head off and $450 for a complete pull down. There was a guy who got sick of the street stocks beating his car up every week so he bought an old modified from us. We bought it for the motor and trans. He took his 450 lift cast iorn intake flat top motor and TH350 and put it in it until he could build one for the class. Our rules are Edelbrock RPM intake 4412 two bbl 365ci max.
The track was bad slick, he came out of the corner and ducked under the leader who runs BIG $$$ motors and pulled him all the way down the back streach and won the race. They did a complete pull down and found nothing but a 60 thousand mile stock 350 with a cam and a 4412. If you are found legal the tech guys get $50 and you get the rest. He has never won even a heat race before and won $500 for the feature and $400 for the pull down.
After the race he was talking to us and we were congratulating him, he told us the motor went flat with about 8 laps left and he was not lifting going through the corners and just staying flat footed. He was amaized when he started passing people but he could not break the tires loose. The last two laps the motor was locking up and he was shifting to third going into the corner and letting the car roll in them getting onto the gas in the middle and shifting comming out. He said he will alwasy remember the leader looking over at him just as he shifted, He said he knows that is why he got pulled down because he knows he heard him shift comming out.
He used the money to finish his new motor and came out the next week and won his second race and they pulled him down again and he got another extra $400.
