We are building a street stock for my kid and while I have been playing with modifieds for years, I haven't done anything with stock class cars in years. My question is a simple one, is there a stock 2 bbl manifold made for the Vortec heads? I've only seen them with fuel injection but rules mandate stock 2 barrel. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanx,
Brett

stock - no. aftermarket - yes.i believe the cast unit from bryzinski is from a marine application.gm sells one also but it is in fact not a stock part.no casting # etc.. the vortecs were all FI induction therefore no cast iron carb intake.

for enough money - "BZ" will put casting numbers on one but your tech guy will probably toss it anyway.

Thanx for the replies. If the heads are drilled an old manifold will fit? The ports line up? Tell me more! I have never messed with Vortecs and know nothing about them, but I have full machining capablities.

From what I've read the ports will line up fine. The center holes on standard 23 degree heads are drilled at a 90 degree angle. The vortec heads center bolts are tapped at a 70 degree angle. What I've heard is guys reaming out the center holes in the intakes to accomplish the difference in angles. You may want to check that out.

Vortec heads only have eight bolts, not twelve. They are not vortec heads if they already have center bolt holes (angle difference is late model vs early model)Only vortec casting numbers are 10239906 or 12558062. Just because they are center bolt valve covers does not mean they are vortec heads. Only used on 350 (5.7) truck engines (1996-1999)
