I have recently been researching scale systems. Ifound that there is a considerable difference in price between the cheap and expensive ones. I usually go for the more expensive tools (You get what you pay for right?) My question is What scale system will be good to use on any type of race car? I already have software from performance trends drag, circle track, and engine.I dont want to spend $2000.00 if I can get the same results for less than a grand. what do you guys think?

as long as you get 1500 lb. pads, you can't go wrong with a $1000 set of scales.

the extras that double the cost of a set of scales (cg calc, percentage targets, set-up memory, etc.) are of little value to most people.

We got a set of Longeacre scales for around 1200 new. They have been really good so far.
