i was thinking of putting a nine inch under a 74 monte, was gonna buy one of those housings set up ready to go under the car,was gonna get one for the metric newer style cars cause i thought thet were the same as far as the arms and spring purches go. but some one told me that they are not the same. is this true and if so does any body build a housing for like a 74 monte ready to go under the car

The metric Monte and '74 are definetly different.

moserengineering.com makes a housing for a '73-'77 Chevelle called a "Laguna" type. Maybe you should call them a see if that rear end is the same as a Monte Carlo.
