I am kind of new to setting up a dirt car. I am helping a friend w/ imca Stock Car and the car is loose off coming out of the corners. I am not sure of all the spring weights etc but what is the best way to start tightening up the car. I dont want to do anything too extreme because the car works pretty good in the feature.

metric car on 1/2 mile dirt paperclip.

Try less stagger in the rear.

before you go and change stagger and all that first i would keep the same stagger you have in the back
Example would be put a 3 1/2 offset on the right rear run the same tire you have now on the right rear but put it on the 3 1/2 offset (see what i mean)
That will tighten up the car on exit then if the car is still to loose do the same thing but put a 4 inch offset on the right rear
You can also slide the left rear out to tighten up the car if the right rear is in to far.
Actually there are a lot of ways to tighten up the car other then offsets or stagger you can go to sofeter rear springs bigger fuel cell there are a ton of ways but first do the offsets it is the easiest and you can do it at the track

You want to keep as much stagger in the car to help it to turn so other then tightening it up by taking stagger out you tighten it up by moving offsets around on the car to tighten or loosen it up,

Also you have to remmember the when you change the stagger you are affecting all four corners of the car by changing the wheel offsets it like sofening or harding each spring
Example sliding in makes the spring act stiffer by sliding it out makes the spring act softer
So this is why I say keep as much stagger in it as possible to a point and change your wheel offsets first

I have to agree with zeroracing, metric cars like to have a minimal amount of stagger.

Tight in will make you loose off also.
Are you tight in?
If so follow dirt track girls, (if you are tight in) if the rr tire is a 4" offset, switch it to a 3 or 2, which will loosen you up in, it will soften the rear spring, and tighten you up off.

Push the rr tire out from the center of the car, and slowly pull the lr in.
