What is the rules on wheelbase at the track you run at.Ours is 108 min but they decided to make it, must match the car it was built out of.so now I have to build a new frame 3rd week into the season.I would think that this is how its done elsewhere.I think Its time to take a break and let them run with a low car count.

ours is 108 but no must match let me get this stright you have to build a new car now? if this the case I would try to find anouther track to run at @ ours they will give you 2 weeks to get it strighted out like exhaust, carb, three link, no matter what it is they always give you 2 weeks to get it fixed but a new car wow

I'm working on the time frame ,like I said jt I'm (hate to say it )thinking about running a asphalt track if they stick to it .I'm waiting to talk with the track owner to see what he thinks. They usally tell you to have it fixed by the next race if its minor but have come up with the idea to send you home if your not right. Its alot of political B.S.

I'm running a 77 lTDII bought the frame at a swap meet the shortest ford frame i can find is 113 and i believe your gm metrics are 112?I have a 116" frame which I will make a 113 out of.Then next year they will problably start a pure stock class and upgrade the factory stocks which my car will be legal in.

our outlaw stock minimum is 101" and our factory stock minimum is 108". metrics are 108". a later model crown vic is the best ford full frame but it's 112", i think.

they should let you shorten it to 108". what happened? did you start spanking them or something?

We have a minimum of 101" but the wheelbase must match the body being used. So one of our cars we have is an 85 camaro body on a shortened metric frame. Our tracks would either grandfather your car in or at least let you finish the year in it and change it before next season. I would hope your track promoter could do that or at least give you ample time to make such drastic changes since it is not a safety issue. That really has to bite. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

Yea I did to good last year so we have to do something this year .The whiners have come to the surface. This is a big 9/16 track and I really don't think the short wheelbase has an advantage. It has big banked turns and is a momentum track The longer cars do as well as any others. So basicaly there are just a few cars that can legaly run a 108 wheelbase.Mines been fine for 3 years and now its a problem.I don't whine and I don't care what somebodyelse has long as the competion is good who cares. We have 8=10 could win cars every week. They put me on the trailer somebodyelse is going to pack it to because I know plenty of cheating i've seen others doing so we can play the game to.

Here is the problems a promotor faces, he doesn't have cars so he allows people to bend the rules or run cars that were owtlawed at other tracks. He does this to build car counts. Then as he has enough cars he has to try and pull back on the rules......WHY???? because now with bigger car counts people are starting to whine, YOU PROMOTOR WOULD RATHER YOU STAYED HOME....his choice isn't a easy choice to make.....3 or 4 guys are complaining, and claiming if he doesn't do somoething THEY will stop racing.

Now the promotor is faced with a HARD choice, you stay those cry babies leave.... or they stay and YOU leave........ Car counts are his friend......

I'm not sure what the rules are...... same wheel base as body???? change body??? sounds like it's time to move up or move on. I'm sure it's not what you what to hear, but is more like the hard truth.

Hey Jeff the next class up is limited lates which will problably be a goner this year due to low car count after changing the rules every year, and theres about 5 of us ready to walk so its not a 1 against the world deal. The bad thing about all of this is it takes all of us to keep it going fans, track owners, and drivers/car owners.I'm guessing about 1/2 the class is illeagal and its the people up front.

Sorry, had one other thought, I understand the promoters dilema as I understand the drivers and car owners also. Maybe this isn't something to fight as much as it is to offer a solution. Not exactly sure what the whole story is but I gather your wheelbase of your frame and of your body are not the same and you have been winning so some other drivers or owners are complaining. From experience I can tell you that the arguement of let me run or I will go somwhere else doesn't carry much weight. The fans pay the bills, not the drivers and pit gate. That covers expenses only. Again, I am not sure what all is involved here but instead of giving each other ultimatums maybe (and I am stretching here) offer a solution, not sure what that may be not knowing your rules, but maybe a 100# extra weight or something? I understand your position and I feel for you, I am just trying to maybe offer something to help keep you running. Have also had that in our area and the cars showed up the next week and they allowed them to run. Not sure how it is going to work out for you but I wish you the best and let us know how it goes. Good luck to you.

Hey 500 its not an argument what it is is that you don't make a major rules change 3 weeks into the season.I have no problem complying with there rule on wheelbase.Just need time like the off season to do it.E-mailed and called the owners and no return calls.I'll be there Friday we'll see what happens then.If they don't let me run I'll have 6 new Hoosier tires to sell for less than i payed for them.Thats what stinks. If I get trailered this year watch out next year with all this time to build a new car I have many ideas.

If youve got some fabrication skills it shouldnt take you long to lengthen your exhisting car back to specks, and get a new driveline.

the driveline should be your only cash output.

My old track messed with me so much I went from 2950-3500 lbs, and 103-108 wheelbase when they decided that was what was needed. Even though other cars were lighter shorter etc they werent faster.

I talked with the track owners thursday and they said run it and we'll expect it to be fixed by next year. This would take about 4 cars out and they don't want to loose the car count.I got to the track friday and the inspecter was on my back 5 mins. after I got there it took him a whole 1/10 of a second to check my wheelbase and told me I was illeagal.Well needless to say I had a talk with one of the owners again and end of subject!!!!!!!!!!! Lets go racin.Had a good night to 1st in the heat second in the A.We have about 10 could win cars every week, run feilds of 20 to 35, first three races 3 different winners ,sounds like something that should be left the way it is.

Akadirtracer7, Is this track that you are talking about Hartford Speedway in Michigan? If so, I saw on their web site that Goodyear tires are not going to be run there anymore, and everyone has to change to Hoosiers. That ***** , because I have about 9 Goodyears that I am trying to get rid off from When Thunderbird ran them.
