Just curious if anyone has built their own stagger guage and if so who and what materials did you use.

buy a stagger tape, you could make a gauge it would be hard and even a good gauge is not as accurate as a tape. all big late model guys i know use a tape. gave up on the guage.

The gauge is alright for comparison at the track but as mentioned before the tape is the way to go. My Gauge is about an inch different than my tape.

Stagger is stagger whether you use a tape or a stick, as long you don't use both. So what if your stick says 1 inch less than the tape, your measuring the difference between tire sizes.
You must always measure tires with the same device, same air pressure and either on the car or off (no weight on tire) just measure the tires the SAME WAY every time for consistant readings.
I always measure my tires in the shop with them on the floor face up with the same air pressure with a stagger stick, then write it on the wheel with a sharpie so eveyone else can't see it.
If I need to check stagger at the track I jack up the car and check the tires.
Just my 2 cents, the tape may be more accurate but I would bet the difference in stagger is the same.

i dont think it would be too hard to make, just gotta make sure you do your math right on the gauge part. basically you would use pie times diameter. the fabrication would be easy, just use 2 pieces of square tubing that slide inside each other and put flat iron on the ends.

i made a gauge by using 2 ft of inch tubing, and 4 foot of 3/4 square tubing.

i left 18 of the inch straight, cut it, then i cut two 10 inch pcs of the 3/4, and and 2 6 inch pcs.
take the 10 inch and the 6 inch and weld them in a L shape.(make sure to square them)

then slide them in the inch tubing. drill a hole on each end of the 1 tubing, and weld a 5/16 nut over the holes, get 4 3 inch 5/16 bolts, weld them into 2 T shapes to tighten gauge.

when finished measure tires, gauge them, and mark them on your gauge with a line..

the whole job takes 20 mins, you can also make your own frnt end alignment tool..
