Actually, many places consider 1200 cc still a mini sprint although they are considered a midget elswhere. I think it depends on what the engine is (motorcycle or car). 125, 250, and 600cc are usually called micro sprints but that also depends on where you are. We run 250cc at our track in the midwest and they call them mini's. Who knows. Oh yea, we can go .080 over legally.

The classes are broken down into engine size. The younger kids (under 14 I think) are supposed to run the 125 class. The 250's are next and may include stock or modified engines. Generaly the engines are 2 strokes taken from motocross bikes. The frames are normally the same for either class. People of all ages run this class. 600's utilize four cylinder four stroke road bike engines and the chassis is normally larger than the 250's but some people modify the smaller chassis to accept the bigger engine. I'm not sure about the 1200 cc class. I have a friend that ran them a few years ago and they used a motorcycle engine that they cut the gear box off of and bolted on an in/out box and they called them midgets. But I've also seen midgets that run four cylinder automotive engines so I'm not sure on the rules for them. I run a 250 in Nebraska. Like any form of racing, you can get into it fairly cheaply or you can spend a boatload. A great website for these cars is at www.microracing.com and read some of the letters. They also have some good links.
