Is the 3spd saginaw for chevy rebuildable and if so how hard and expensive are the parts to find.

actually havent ran it yet. I do the paint/body work and welding for a friends modified and decided to start building a econo for my 15 year old son it is a 86 monte carlo. we were given a 3spd saginaw. here is the link to the rules if you have any suggestions we are open to thehttp://www.i-76speedway.com/econorules.htmm,

I wouldnt even worry about rebuilding it--the saginaws are very tough--just put it in and try it out

i would just pull the shifter panel off and look at the gears. if they all look good i would run it. you can strip all the gears almost and still drive it in 3rd...i got lucky and found out 1 night...

Ok what is everyones preference on the trannys run a 3spd saginaw or run a automatic such as a TH350 or a powerglide

You can push start a saginaw.

I'm heading to the junkyard this weekend to get a saginaw and was wondering if anyone had any pointers for what cars/trucks to find them in?

66-69 chevy trucks. will be your best bet, anytime i have seen them in a junk yard they have already been pulled out..

where are you at? we have a few, and im moving to late model next year..

theres one problem u cant run a powerglide in that class

look for the old 2wd chevy trucks with straight 6's in them
