MY ??? IS MY FORD ENGIN IS A FRESH MOTER NO BLOW BY
BUT UNDER RACE CONDITIONS AFTER ABOUT THE 4TH LAP IT WILL START PUSHING OIL OUT THE BREATHER CAPS ON THE VALVE COVERS IT HAS A HIGH VOLUM OIL PUMP. IT ACTS TO ME LIKE IT IS FILLING MY VAULVE COVERS WITH THE OIL AND IT FORCES IT OUT OF THEM

RACING OIL PAN
HIGH VUL OIL PUMP NO RESTRICTERS IN THE MOTER. DO YOU THINK THAT WOULD HELP????

TO PUT THEM IN

We had the same problem a couple years ago, we got a set of valve covers with the breathers on the left side from Towers & Harwood. That seemed to stop the problem, we also put socks over the breathers to absorb what oil does leak out.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

the moter has about 5 or 6 race nights on it
but it does not have no blow by at all

you can let it run and idle for 30 minuits and reve it up and stuff and it has no blow by

idiling it holds 65 lbs oil psi
on the track racing it goes up to about 80 to 85 but after 4 or 5 laps it drops down to about 40 but under yellow it goes back up to about 65 lbs for the next few green flag laps then it comes down again

and after the first 4 or 5 laps that is when oil starts coming out and geting on my headers

I'm no expert, but that seems like really high oil pressure.

Rule of thumb is 10 psi of oil pressure per 1000 engine RPM. Believe it or not a high volume pump can fill the valve covers enough to get oil blowin out the vents. My 2 cents

What do the plugs look likeare there oil on the threads of the plugs. If so you might just need a few more races on motor but you wouldnt think so. This last 351W we built has more blowby than the last but its slowing down everyweek and we have run it three races. We also run a high volume oil pump that runs like 70 then around 40 on the track and its been reworked what ever they do to them.

I've always heard that a 351W does NOT need a high volume oil pump. I'm using the stock oil pump that came with my engine kit, with no problems.

I run a Ford 351 with hi volume pump. I have determined that the oil coming out of my breathers is do to the way the oil is coming out of the rocker arm oil holes in the rocker arm at the pushrod end. I have put deflectors in the breather tubes and have also changed the height of the rocker arm studs to help deflect the oil. I am not running any oil restrictors, you need all the oil you can get to stock rockers to help keep them cool with a high lift cam. Just food for thought.

I AM RUNING ROLLER TIP ROCKERS. BUT NOT REAL SURE IF CAM IS SOLID OR HYD. ANOTHER GUY BUILT THE MOTER ABOUT 65 OR 6 RACES AGO AND I BOUGHT THE CAR LAST WEEK AND RAN IT
IT HAS ALLWAYS HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THE OIL.
IT DONT SEEM TO BE GETTING ANY WORSE
BUT I WILL TRY SOME OF THE STUFF TALKED ABOUT ON HERE AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS

THANKS

couple ideas. make sure your breaters are not down to low oil will blow up in them then have no way to run back down into the valve covers. sounds like you have a lot of oil getting to the top end witch is good but you need to keep it from running all over the engine. another idea is to make a buffle to set down in the fill tube out of a freeze plug that just fits into the tube. drill it then put a like 2 inch bolt into it to keep it from flopping all over the place and keep it in the tube cupped side up to detour oil back down into the engine. hope this helps.
