What would be the best stock oem heads to run in the factory stock class? We cannot run vortech but can run late model center hole valve cover type heads.Im building a 82 monte carlo metric car 350 small block chevy.

I have a 87 chevy surburban im junking out and it has the late model heads and was wondering if they would be good heads to have reworked and use?

Thanks.

Steven.

No,late model tbi heads have half the intake runner blocked off for what the factory calls swirlport induction they are an rpm killer tpi late model heads are the way to go check them by looking down the intake port in the head to see if you can see the whole intake valve if u can only see half they are swirl ports and they **** . Another option is to use 305 H.O.heads theyflowprettywelland have 58cc cahmbers for some serious compression. they however are not late model only available through 86. Oh one other thing late model heads are only good to about .480 lift at the vlave they require machine work to do any good. (conclusion) late model heads **** if you must have valve size look for last three digits on casting number 350 heads. (993) (882) AND MAYBE (624) BUT ONLY IF YOU HAVE TO. If you can run a pretty good size cam the 305 H.O. heads are the way to go. Make up for valve size with cam and have close to 11 to1 with flattops. (SPEED KILLS) drive a ford live forever

The 305 H.O. heads are great. I run a set of them that has been mildly ported and polished on a .30 over 350. they have the 58cc chambers and I run a .500 lift int. and exh. cam. The machine shop said they would outflow a set of victor jr. heads.

We also have a lift rule in our class.447 Max lift and must pull 16 on the vacum at 800 rpm`s.

Thanks.

Well with those rules I would definately look for the 305 H.O. heads the higher compression will help with the vaccum.

416 are the last 3 casting numbers on the 305 heads.
