We are going to do a gear change and jump to around 6800-6900 rpms. We are running a cast GM crank and rods. How long will stock components hold up at that range? Is it just the stress from the rpms that gets the engines or will the higher final ratio actually put more stress on the parts than a lower final?

the biggest stress is compression we run 9-1 comp motors with stock cast cranks and recon rods that hard all year long the weakest link is the rod bolts so make sure you have good bolts and it will last a long time
