I am currently running what I believe is a 8.5 inch Chevy rear end with bolt in axles.373 gears, welded. We are not allowed to run a 9 inch but the problem is the Left rear axle seems to break or have the left side axle pull out about every 400 laps. I was told to get a 8.5 inch C-clip rear end to solve my problems. Is this accurate and what year a car would I find this rear end in? Are my gears compatible with the c-clip rear end? Any ideas? We run 200 lap races and I run a 1985 Delta 88.

Just take the axle out and tack weld the bearing to the axle. thats what we use to do on our chevelle we ran in Greenbush and never ever had a problem. also, yes the gears are compatible with the c-clip rear-end. Those c-clip rears and bolt in axle rears came in all types of cars. I got a rear end out of a 75' monte that had bolt in axles, my buddie ran the identical car and it had c-clips. You'll just have to look around at the different rears to see what you want. I usually just reach around the backing plate and feel the backing plate bolts to see which way there facing, if they face in towards the drum its usually a bolt in, if the bolts face the center of the car then there usually the c-clip. Hope this kinda helps. Good luck.

Is that a Pollock car. If so why don't you find out what derek is running he seams to have figured it out. I thought he said astro van axles and tack weld the bearing. 400 laps is a lot of laps to run I know a couple of guys that run that rear that think they are luck by getting 100 laps out of an axle. Try inspecting your axles after every race and yes i know that you are running enduros but still check after the race.
