we run a purestock 305 chevy, we have short pipes coming down from stock exhaust manifolds, should we have longer pipes to create more back pressure?? thanks

racer17j says to put extra long pipes on and paint them white start the car and get to operating temp. and where it stops burning paint cut there.I belive thats the deal he uses.Hope fully he will reply to your thread.He is a purdy mart feller.lol

Racer17j's way is correct. You might cut them another inch ahead of where they stop burning.

forget the white paint. put an "X" pipe in the exhaust system and you will smoke 'em down the straights!

the exhaust system is one of the most overlooked sources for horsepower...

an X pipe is a cross over pipe like the dual exhaust uses

i have heard that the 2 into 1 pipe is the way to go

if your not familiar with it check it out
brzezinski has them

drive hard or drive home
