I have a car that that is overheating all the time. It idiols fine but when I get on it it get hots and blow all the water out the overflow. I had a aluminum radiator in it but the radiator shop around here said I was bad. I think it was bad from the beginning. I bought the car this year and put different heads on it. Everything look ok. I had a experience mechanic do my work. This has been going on every since I have started. Even the first pratice I lost water. I then went this week and picked up a old 3 core radiator and it is doing the same thing but worse. Is there anyway that a new 4 core radiator and high flow water pump would cool this hog down. P.S. there is not white smoke coming out of tailpipes and I have no water in my oil. Please help.

a crackeed cylinder wall or bad head gasquet can put cylinder compression into the water jacketts blowing the water out. check your compression.

The compression is 135 all the way around. Also the car runs very strong. I check the oil and there is no water present. The spark plugs look clean. Is there any way that this because of a bad radiator or water pump. Lost and have no idea what to do next.

I bought a new aluminum radiator and water pump. I also gutted a thermostat and put it in replacing my 160. I started it and it never got above 130 idling. I also ran the overflow in the car over by the passenger door so I can see if the water starts to run out. I also stuck my shrud to the radiator and gaulk every possible crack on the inside where the shud meets the radiator. I have great air flow. My dog went by my car and i **** her up against the bumper. Thanks for giving me sum advice. Do you have anything else I should look at. I really can't test it for sure until this weekend. Thank you again.

I was dumping out of my overflow with a high pressure cap, pulled heads, gaskets were shot, ran it yesterday, was on it all day and never went over 200 and never boiled out of the overflow. The only symptom I had was a couple of lower compression #'s on some cylinders and a slight amount of moisture in #3, no water in oil.

make a smaller restrictor make the hole about 11/16 get a good fan like a four blade corvette fan about 40.00 this is what we run with no shroud never overheated yet who knows good luck

I was having problems with over heating mid race, would be 240 easy. Had an aluminum radiator flex fan and a shroud. I still could not it keep cool, then one race I lost my whole water pump and fan in the radiator. Replaced the radiator with a cheap one-inch aluminum with plastic sides out of an El Camino. I also put a cheap plastic flex fan just to get out the next day. Wow never got past 200 for the next nights race heat and main and the rest of the year. I have not even put the shroud back in. I think my metal fan was bent a little and the thick radiator was just two much for a short track and the temps it gets down here in NM.

anyone ever heard of shaving off every other impeller blade in the water pump to slow the flow down. heard that also helps on heating up.

I am still concerned about my motor. My mechanic is coming Friday to shoot air in my cylinders and see if we can see bubbles. Anyways if I do, has anyone every used z-4 or do they have any ideas to slow leak down so I can race. I also heard of used pepper. Were can you get Z4.
